Rail Ale 2017 – Friday 19th and Saturday 20th May
Rail Operations Group offer you the best way to get to Rail Ale 2017 at the Barrow Hill Beer Festival, behind a Class 37 & 47 top-and-tailed.
The train picks up in Derby at approximately 10:oo, heading north to Duffield, through Milford, Wingfield and Clay Cross tunnels before stopping at Chesterfield to pickup passengers. It would be easy to go direct to Barrow Hill, almost in sight, but where is the fun in that!
Instead, the train continues through Dronfield to the last passenger pickup at Sheffield. Continuing, the train passes through Darnall and Woodhouse, then turning south down the freight-only line to Beighton Junction and onward to Barrow Hill.
Upon arrival at the roundhouse, your ticket will include entry to ‘Rail Ale 2017’ where you can enjoy over 300 real ales, ciders, perrys, craft & world beers. Plus there there will be train rides and live music for your entertainment.
After a few hours of merriment, the train will depart at approximately 17:00 and retrace the outbound journey.
It is anticipated that the Class 47 will haul the outbound train and the 37 will lead on the return journey.
For your convenience, you can travel on Friday 19th or Saturday 20th May….or both if you are so inclined!
