Settle & Carlisle - Saturday 18th April - Rescheduled to 10th October

Due to the current Coronavirus Outbreak, we have postponed this railtour until Autumn. We are asking all passengers booked on the train to contact the Vintage Trains Booking Office and advise if they with to re-schedule, be issued with a credit note or a full refund.

The Settle to Carlisle Railway is one of the most scenic and impressive railways in the UK, with viaducts, tunnels and wild scenery of the North Pennines, Eden Valley and Yorkshire Dales. Consisting of 72 miles of track with 21 viaducts spanning the ravines and 14 tunnels, the line is considered to be the most picturesque route to Scotland.

On this full day tour, travel to Appleby or Carlisle on our heritage coaches,  hauled by a class 47 diesel as far as Hellifield. There we will swap our diesel for Clun Castle, one of our magnificent GWR Castle class steam locomotives, which will haul us on the route via Settle to Carlisle.

An opportunity to stretch your legs and photograph the engine is offered at Appleby before we retrace our steps and head home.

This is a spectacular full day trip, all the more special as “Clun Castle” makes her first return to the Settle and Carlisle line since 1967.

Passengers can join the train at Birmingham New Street, Coleshill Parkway, Tamworth, Burton-on-Trent, Derby and Chesterfield.

Passengers can alight at Appleby or Carlisle.

Steam hauled over the S&C from Hellifield to Catlisle and return by No: 7029 “Clun Castle”
