This train offers a high level of passenger comfort being comprised of recently acquired ex-BR mark 2 air-conditioned carriages together with our well known BR Mk 1 Pullman Cars (as used on the East Coast Pullman services). This enables Vintage Trains to offer a new passenger experience.
The Explorer trains will be hauled by a classic diesel locomotive and can operate at up to 90 mph.
The new train enables Vintage Trains to offer a greater choice of scenic routes, interesting destinations together with a variety of possible 'off train' options.
Enjoy a relaxing day out in comfort and style on board our new mk 2 air-conditioned carriages or our classic Pullman carriages.
The Explorer Trains will offer four classes of travel :
Pullman Class includes full English breakfast and 3-course roast dinner - traditional BR Mk 1 Pullman Cars previously used on the prestigous 'East Coast Pullman Trains'
Club Class Dining includes light breakfast of cereals, orange juice, tea, coffee etc., and a light evening meal - air conditioned BR Mk 2 coaches
First Class includes tea or coffee - air conditioned BR Mk 2 coaches
Standard Class - air conditioned BR Mk 2 coaches
Pullman, Club and First Class seating is at tables for two and four persons, whilst Standard Class is at tables for four persons.

Table for Two : We can offer a 'Table for Two' guarantee (subject to availability
of tables) for those who make a small additional payment.
Juniors & Children : There
is no special child menu & no reduced child fare in Pullman & First
class. We regret we are unable to accommodate children
under 5 in the dining cars. Concessionary fares in Standard Class may apply on certain trains only.
Fares : See individual tour details for fares, upgrades and inclusive excursions.
Optional Add-on Excursions : Fares for these are additional to main train fare.
Please note: Our steam hauled trains will continue to offer Pullman and Standard Class seating only, with traditional coach ventilation in order to give passengers the full benefit of their steam train experience.
